What is an EVA foam and its common uses?

The role of EVA

EVA foam, short for closed-cell ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer foam, is an effective replacement for many materials used in production. It is a suitable replacement for natural rubber, vinyl, neoprene, polyurethane and PVC foams, wood composites, felt, fiberglass and mineral wool. EVA foam material is characterized by good gloss and transparency, retains strength at low temperatures, maintains its resistance to UV radiation and stress cracking, and has hot melt adhesive waterproofing properties.

Common Uses

EVA foam has a fine, uniform structure that allows it to be processed like other thermoplastics. It maintains its flexibility and elasticity, recovers quickly from compression, and absorbs color. The foam is typically formed in a mold as a sheet of closed-cell foam. The size of the closed-cell foam varies depending on the density of the foam. The closed-cell foam is cut into sheets or formed into specific shapes or items according to specifications.
EVA foam is extremely versatile and has countless uses and applications that most of us usually think of as universal. EVA foam can be used in all types of appliances, automotive, construction, EVA boat flooring, electronics, healthcare, EVA foam packaging, sports, leisure and recreation, and footwear. For example:

EVA can replace rubber and vinyl products in many electrical applications.
EVA is used to make plastic packaging "sticky".
EVA ron'ye can be made into adhesives for packaging, binding, bonding plastic films, metal surfaces and coated paper.
EVA is used with wax and resin additives to make hot melt adhesives, hot glue sticks and top-notch soccer shoes.
EVA craft foam sheets are used to make eva foam toys.

EVA is also used in biomedical drug delivery applications to slowly release compounds in the body. The polymer is dissolved in an organic solvent, mixed into a homogenous mixture, and molded into a freeze-dried solid. Although it does not biodegrade in the body, it is inert and does not cause adverse reactions.
EVA is expanded rubber or foam rubber and is used in sports equipment padding. Snow and wakeboard boots, bicycle saddles, hockey pads, boxing gloves and helmets, and fishing rods and reels are all made with EVA foam.

EVA is used in athletic shoes to absorb impact. It is a popular material for flip flops and sandals because it forms to the foot, is lightweight, does not retain odor, and provides a glossy surface. EVA is a more cost-effective material compared to natural rubber.

Because EVA is a buoyant material, it can be used in fishing and swimming kickboard and non-traditional items such as floating glasses. It can be used as a replacement for cork on the end of fishing rod handles.

Encapsulation material for crystalline silicon solar cells (used in photovoltaic modules),
Cold flow improver for diesel fuel,
